I refuse to eat cats. They give me hairballs.
The world needs more basil. three hurrahs for what you do. :)
not quite answering the question, but... I had a cat, and several chinchillas (small, round, furry things) and the cat was very jealous of the chis, and despised them, besides, because they would chase her and nibble at her tail. The chis got raisins as snacks and jealous the cat would beg for raisins, too, and it turned out, she really quite liked them. Then she was happy whenever it was reason-treat time, and there was momentary harmony in the home.
There was very little the chis wouldn't nibble, but the cat drew her line at cactus. Houseplants, maybe, but she was never jealous enough to try a bit of cactus to show up the wicked chis.
I like your blog very much. :P
A dear friend of mine whose squirrel-loving cat passed away recently will love this little post.
Nice photos ;o) Our cats don't seem to understand that squirrels are anything but small, funny-looking cats. But then, they are housecats who don't believe in hunting. ;o)
Your post reminded me of that.
What is the one thing Salamander won't eat -- cat treats! She gets really mad when Willow gets one, although she won't eat them anyway.
HAve a great day!

And Robin's story sounds about right... the eccentric eating habits of our pets. I had a dog that ate grapes if you peeled them for her, and cat that ate lettuce.
